Gesture-Sensing Tektile
A knitted textile that is programmed to recognize touch-based gestures. Textile developed in collaboration with Renata Gaui, through the Tek-Tiles project.
Guesture-Sensing Tektile is an experiment of using Shima Seiki knitting machine to create e-textiles to sense intuitive gestures. Textile is knitted with a combination of conductive yarn and non-conductive yarn, to form the reactive areas on the knit.
The gesture sensing interaction is enabled by capacitive touch sensor. Conductive yarn is used to knit the routes for the circuitry. Metal snaps are used for the connection between controller circuit and the textile.
