About
Jingwen Zhu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design at the University of California, Davis. She received her Ph.D. in Human Centered Design from Cornell University in 2026, where she was advised by Prof. Cindy Hsin-Liu Kao in the Hybrid Body Lab. Before joining Cornell, she received her bachelor’s degree in Design and Innovation from Tongji University and her master’s degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of human-computer interaction, e-textiles, sustainable materials, and biodesign. Her work has been presented at major conferences, including ACM CHI, UIST, DIS, and ISWC, and has received Best Paper and Best Paper Honorable Mention awards. She was also named an EECS Rising Star in 2024.
I will be joining UC Davis Department of Design as an Assistant Professor starting Summer 2026. I am recruiting fully-funded MFA student for Fall 2027. Please email me with your CV and research interest.
